“Suņa stunda” Medium rock/comedy rock band Suņa stunda. This musical project was created as a collaboration between students of the Latvian Academy of Culture’s dramaturgy course and has been living its life outside the walls of the university for quite some time now. The group believes that they play comedy rock and media rock, which, as the name suggests, has a strong connection with the media. The lyrics of several songs have been adapted into musical form from newspaper and magazine columns.

00.45 World premiere of the wooden opera, specially for Sansusī

“Praeludia Sponsaliorum Plantarum” or “Introduction to the Theme of Plant Engagement” is a treatise written by the famous Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1729. Just as Linnaeus drew inspiration for this study from Georges Vallin’s work “The Wedding of Trees,” the creative collective uses the theme of tree and plant sexuality as a fantasy-inducing platform for the composition. The relationship between pine, spruce, and birch in nature is transformed into an operatic relationship in contemporary music.

The short stories, centered on vivid characters and life’s stepsons, conjure up absurd, multi-layered and provocative scenes in a completely harmonious mood, revealing naivety, sensitivity and sexuality, and speak directly, even harshly, about the not-so-correct and politically correct sides of life, without their heroes hiding or being ashamed. They are stories about relationships, feelings and self-awareness as young people grow up.
The play is designed as memoirs about a young person growing up in a Siberian village in the late 1980s.
The stories from the collection “Black Sperm” are used: “Black Sperm”, “Zirja”, “Zvirbulpeža or You Must Change”, “Yukusī”, “House of God”, “Special Olga”, “Ženečka Churayevs”, “Perfect Baby”.

The performance “Pranks and Fairy Tales” will be a journey into the fantastic fairy tale world of Imants Ziedonis, where seemingly ordinary objects acquire vivid characters and get involved in various unexpected adventures. 21.00 „Insect”

The play “The Cockroach” is based on the story “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka, a modernist born in what is now the Czech Republic, and tells the story of a typical suburban family whose offspring turns into a cockroach overnight. In the approximately hour-long play, filled with grotesque and absurd events, we will be able to see the efforts of two loving parents to live with the other and the desire of a young person to break free from the shackles of perceptions in order to start an independent life. During the performance, musicians will play compositions by composer Olesya Kozlovskaya on the theme of meadow and indoor insects, created especially for the show, as well as an opportunity to listen to a popular science story about the habits and customs of cockroaches, which will help to free oneself from the yoke of stereotypes and accept cockroaches as nice and pleasant creatures.

The endless opening celebration of the Susēja Culture House

Vilnis Putrāms

The installation “The Endless Opening Celebrations of the Susēja Cultural Center” is created using the ruins of the former cultural center, which for the duration of the festival gains its long-lost roof. By marking the forgotten cultural object in the landscape, at least for a moment the building is returned to its original function and meaning, creating a kind of monument to the many cultural objects lost in the Latvian countryside during the complex historical processes. The roof of the building is a particularly important element when thinking about the location of the installation – “crossroads”, one road leads to the festival venue, and the other road – to the Aknīste Psychoneurological Hospital, about the complex aspect of “choices” and culture as a potentially healthier alternative.
