20.30 Reinis Sukhanovs “Theatre is everywhere”
In the performance, together with the children, we try to answer some fundamentally important questions about theater as a building and an art form. In search of answers to questions about the elements of the theater space, such as the stage, audience seats, lighting equipment – we jointly create our own theater from the surrounding objects and environmental possibilities. The stage (the place where views converge) can be a window sill, a shelf, a tabletop, a stool, it all depends on the children’s ideas. Once we have done this, we then talk about the theater performance and its elements, for example, a bowl becomes an actor who plays the mother of a small cup that is in great pain because it has a hole in its stem. Of course, the children themselves create the story about things that are relevant to them. Through such a story filled with game elements, we come to the idea that the main element of theater is fantasy and if you have a story that you want to tell and at least one viewer/listener, then theater can be born anywhere.

“Amygdala” is a performance created especially for the Sanssouci festival – a journey that reflects on the presence of man in the natural world. The audience is invited to join the artists on a journey through the Susēja forest, where the world created by the artists gradually unfolds, in which the interplay between materials, nature, body movement and music contemplates the mutual influence of humanity and nature. Using the same materials that are involved in natural changes, the artists invite us to think about different aspects of natural changes.

A chance for everyone to move their bodies around in the tent, accompanied by festival volunteers.
10.00 “The Hug Experiment”
The performance is planned as a fun game, where the participants of the performance, together with the audience, will look for a way to a hug. The goal of the performance is to promote associative thinking among young viewers, as well as to introduce children to contemporary dance in a language they understand. The performance experiences various relationship options through movement, in which all the actors want to make contact, but cannot find a common language. At least two people are needed to hug, but what if there are three? The performance will be interactive and during it children will be given the opportunity to get involved and check which hug is the best and most pleasant.

20.30 Latvian folk tale series
Once upon a time, life was completely different from now. God, the Devil and Death walked the earth, countries were ruled by fairy tale lovers – kings, and cats and mice also lived amicably. To this day, only stories about how it used to be have survived. That is why young directors invite young and old to experience the wonder of the fairy tale world together.

21.30 Summer Night Dance
The repertoire includes the most sung and played songs in Latvia in the last hundred years. At the beginning of the ball, songs from the most popular performers of the 30s and 40s will be heard – Brāļi Laivinieki (Kārlis Grūbe, Fricis Kuģis), Mariss Vētra, Tālis Matīss, Edgars Vilnis and others. Maybe someone will recognize the melody of Jānis Mediņš, Ādams Ore or Alfrēdis Vinter. Then, more well-known names – Imants Kalniņs, Raimonds Pauls, Zigurds Rezevskis. We will play their most popular melodies from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Closer to the present day, the melodies of Zigmārs Liepiņš, Uldis Marhilēvičs, and the instrumental versions of songs performed by Intars Busulis, which are so characteristic of today, will be heard.

Are there any other living and intelligent beings in the vast universe besides us, and are these beings friendly? In the play “The Flying Saucer”, two enthusiastic researchers will invite children to go on a cosmic journey, searching for unknown planets and the even less known inhabitants of unknown planets. Through this search, they will also try to understand who and what we ourselves are.

16.00 Closing concert. “Love Letters to God”
One day, while walking through the streets of Amsterdam and depressed by some existential question, I slipped into a second-hand bookshop. As if knowing what I was looking for, I went straight ahead and pulled out the book “Love Poems From God” from one of the many shelves. When I opened any page in it, it untied my existential mental knots and showed me the way to my heart through very simple language. Since that day, this book has been like a spiritual guide and assistant in my daily routine. It collects poems by various Western and Eastern mystics from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, which have been translated into English by Daniel Ladinsky. These poems contemplate God from different angles and are permeated with love for the All, but not necessarily from the perspective of any particular religion. The concert “Love Letters to God” is an 11-part work for 8 voices, percussion and electric guitar, in which 9 parts are based on poems selected from the above-mentioned book and the 2nd part is a collective improvisation.
